Beyond The Picket Line

Beyond the Picket Lines examines the activities of the Nigerian Trade Union Leaders, namely, Michael Imoudu, Wahab Goodluck, and Bernard Udokporo. The socio-political environments in which these three labor leaders thrived were in tandem with Nigeria's development in both colonial and post-colonial periods, during which their expertise in the labor movement was fully tested. In that context, they became part of the historical process within the Nigerian project, which led to the divergent nature of ideological struggles in the labor movement, the Nigeria-Biafra War, and the military's involvement in the labor movement through the Adebiyi Tribunal of Inquiry. This book is at the intersection of labor struggles, workers' rights, the struggle for fair wages, and the government's attempt to repress labor organizing.
